Some Gentlemen Prefer Age

Almost everywhere in contemporary society, we are fed a myth that youth is synonymous with beauty and desirability. Cultural narratives consistently reinforce the idea that as women age, their worth diminishes. Older women are also stereotyped as "cougars" or "milfs" seeking young, vigorous men to satisfy their desires. Such narratives are common currency in the adult industry, where the emphasis on youthful appearance for both men and women often prevents the recognition of personality, energy, talent, and experience.

Here's the thing, though. Since becoming a cam model I have found that largely 80% of my clientele are men under the age of 35 seeking women over the age of 50. This trend clearly undermines the prevailing cult of youth. I've learned that these younger men seek the companionship of older women on a cam site often because they're embarrassed or unsure of how to fulfill their desires in real life. Another twist on this discovery is that many of these older-women-loving men are convinced that the older women they covet naturally prefer what they so crudely refer to as their "young d*ck" over men their own age. In other words, even as these men resist the cult of youth for themselves, they continue to assume that the cult applies to us.

This is not the case -- I prefer a man closer to my own age. I want experience, maturity, wisdom, and wit. I don't want to teach, demonstrate, or explain. I want to cede control temporarily to a man who is a master of his domain and knows how to make me feel safe, adored, and desired. Youth doesn't turn me on -- rather, I find it tiresome to deal with. I relate better to men of my own generation. Since I have started camming, I have learned more about what young men desire, and I have shared with many young men what I desire. This real-life experience and sharing of information is slowly chipping away at the mythical cult of youth in my psyche. Nowadays, I find it easier than ever to resist the cultural pressures that stigmatize aging. I wholeheartedly no longer believe that my desirability hinges on how young I look. I now correct anyone who comes in my room saying that I look good "for my age." They think they are complimenting me, but in reality, they are entrenching the mythical cult of youth. I always respond with: "I look good, period, darling. Don't be rude." Most of the time, people get it.

Research backs up my experience of ageism in the adult industry, with statistics indicating a stark decline in opportunities for older performers. A study conducted by the Adult Industry Association revealed that women over the age of 30 encounter significant barriers to casting, regardless of their experience or skills. It's unfortunate that this bias disadvantages mature women who can offer a wealth of experience and sophistication. Luckily for us, we can enter the industry without running the casting gauntlet by simply joining a cam site. On my two main sites, there is no vetting or interviewing: everyone is welcome, regardless of aesthetic or age.

My Personal Path: A Middle-Aged Debut

Entering the cam modeling industry after the age of 50 was not an easy decision for me. As I embarked on this new chapter, I was met with skepticism from a close (male) friend who questioned whether pursuing a career in camming "at my age" was even possible. He doubted I would be popular -- I took it as a challenge. My desire to redefine my career path outweighed any fear of rejection I had.

To my surprise, I quickly discovered that my age was in no way an impediment. In fact, it offered me unique advantages. First and foremost, I was shocked to find that hundreds -- soon thousands -- of men of all ages found me attractive. The idea that my age would impede my popularity was clearly false. Moreover, I found that my ability to communicate effectively, set boundaries, and exude a deep-seated confidence allowed me to engage with my audience on a deep, meaningful level. The interactions and experiences I created were more transformational than transactional, and I loved it. The attributes associated with my age became my strengths -- especially my authenticity. I know who I am, what I want, and what my limits are. This allows me to confidently deliver an intimate and unique experience to viewers.

Defying Stereotypes: The Edge of Experience

In the realm of the adult industry, stereotypes surrounding age often overshadow the unique advantages that come with maturity and life experience. Contrary to the widespread belief that youth equals desirability, older performers bring a rich tapestry of experiences that contribute significantly to their success as cam models. At the end of the day, the confidence gained from years of navigating life's complexities cannot be understated. Mature performers exude a sense of self-assuredness that often draws admiration. This confidence translates into a performing style that is less about seeking validation and more about sharing an experience. The ability to be at ease in front of a camera not only enhances performance quality but also fosters a supportive environment where viewers feel valued and understood.

Today, I have confidence that the adult industry is evolving beyond the superficial criteria of age. The edge of experience, characterized by maturity, emotional intelligence, and self-confidence, allows older cam models like myself to carve out a distinct niche that defies societal stereotypes. Our authenticity and ability to connect meaningfully with diverse audiences underscores the value of experience in what is too often perceived as a youth-dominated field.
